Nope. Tried that already and it doesn't help :(

If you have any other ideas I'll be happy to try them.

Maybe installing the whole Eclipse environment from scratch would solve the problem, but I am not overly eager to do that...

But in any case - thanks for all your trouble.

Max,

I have finally figured it out. Here's the thing: You mentioned the Hibernate Settings option in the Project Properties menu, which I said I don't have. As it turns out - this option only appears in the Project Properties if you open it from the Project Explorer view. However, I use the Navigator view, in which this option doesn't appear. Once I found the Hibernate Settings and selected my console-config, the database table and column auto-complete feature in the XML mapping editoer started working. I Just wanted to thank you for your efforts, and share the tip with you, and with anyone else who may be struggling with the same problem.

Let me be even more specific: it has to be the project explorer view in the hibernate prespective. the exploer view in another perspective, such as the j2ee persp. - doesn't show the hibernate settings eiter.

that was weird....could you please report this in jira (and if you could add a screenshot of the preferences dialog with and without it would be appreciated)

As far as I know the hibernate settings should just appear for any project as it is defined like all the other settings.
