Hi,

Extensive logging itself can slow the application down considerably. Check whether the show_sql property in your hibernate configuration file is set to true or false. It should only be set to true for debugging purposes. Also check your overall logging configuration. Per default log4j is used and you should have a log4j.properties pr log4j.xml file configuring the different log levels. Make sure to use the proper log level.

Other than that there could be multiple reason why your application does not perform as expected. For most of them exists a cure once they are located. You will have to read through the Hibernate documentation to learn how to fine tune an Hibernate application (eg caching).
