We would like to use hibernate shard in our production environment.
However it seems its in beta since long time without any visible development.
Anybody know whether there is any development in progress or whether it is production ready?

Hi there,

The docs for Shards are good about calling out what is available and what isn't, so if you don't need the things that aren't available (like HQL for example) you should be fine. There are a couple of bugs that we've fixed in the trunk that aren't in the latest release, so I'd recommend you look at JIRA and see if any of those might impact you.

It's true, development is currently stalled. We all want to push Shards to GA but at the moment our full-time jobs are taking up all our development time. If you want to contribute, by all means please do. And if you need to submit patches to get things working in your production environment we would be thrilled to support you.
