HI ! I wonder if can can do something like the following: Offer my Customer a customization option where they can choose what they want to be in their index and what not. That would mean to declare the index not by annotations but by other ways. Is there some way to do it around ? Or am I just curious :) Thomas

What do you mean with "not in their index"??
I don't think you're going to develop a different DB-model for each customer,
I call that develop a new application for each customer.

So if they share the same DB-model annotations are just the same for everyone.

Is your question about hiding some information/fields from the index to some customer?
I would advise you to manage a single index containing all information that "could be used" and then let each user use only the fields they want.. but that's the normal usage ;-)

regards,
Sanne

Sanne's proposal seems the most reasonable
But you can always go contribute http://hibernate.org/443.html
