Hello
Lucene has possibility to index for example RTF documents. I keep such documents in @Lob field.
Is there possibility to somewhat automate indexing of such field, or should I add second String field and put there parsed attachment?

Hi,
you probably could use this:
http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/search/reference/en/html_single/#d0e1536

It will keep your entity design clean and get full control about how to index any type of data.

regards,
Sanne

I also think that a StringBridge is the best way forward. To convert the RTF to a String you can use the classes DefaultStyledDocument and RTFEditorKit from the JDK. Lucene in Action contains some more concrete code examples.
