I need to run a db query as part of the validation. How can I arrange for a session object to be made available as part of the validation check? It looks like I could use @AssertTrue on a property but that property would need to get a session somehow that is outside the current transaction.

Thoughts?

I have a db that does not implement uniqueness on a column called "name" (but has a integer PK) and I need to check that the newly created pojo's name is unique.
