We've successfully deployed our first Hibernate app running on a tier independent of DB2 on the iSeries. In search of better performance we are investigating hosting Hibernate and an open source app server on the iSeries. Initial tests of Hibernate with Apache Tomcat on as400 show promise. The technical challenge is likely surmountable, but the business proposition of a largely open source solution running on the iSeries challenges some decision makers. I am looking for success stories as decision making input - in particular those involving Hibernate with Apache Tomcat (not ASFTomcat) or JBoss hosted on the iSeries.
