From reading the documentation, do I understand it correctly that it is possible to use Hibernate EntityManager and Annotations in a JEE 1.4 environment (with container managed transactions)? (JDK 1.5 is avaliable in this environment)

it is considered a JavaSE environment though so you have to take care of your EntityManager(Factory)
