I would like to know if using JPA/hibernate annotations support the notion of batch inserts, similar to what the StatelessSession provides. I see there is a batch setting but this looks to be used for only fetching rather than inserting.

Batch inserts regarding the jdbc.batch-size are supported
Batch inserts wo persistence context are not, so you need to flush and clear it on a "regular" basis
