Is there a way to detect any constraint violation before flushing or committing a transaction to avoid DB exception?
Thanks!

You can use the constraint annotations to validate a Bean before you insert/update (see Annotations Reference Guide - Chapter 3). If you check before you insert/update and get no InvalidValue Objects then you shouldn't need to check before you flush or commit.
