Hi,

According to the documentation, you can only apply @org.hibernate.annotations.Cache on a root entity. I was wondering if someone could quickly explain the rationale behind this.

I have a base entity class DomainObject and this limitation seems to almost push you in the direction of having two base classes such as CachedDomainObject and UncachedDomainObject - just to have different @Cache annotations on them.

Thanks in advance.

having a DomainObject superclass is an abomination in the first place.

I respectfully disagree. But I'd rather not argue about that right now ;-)

Do you know what the rationale is behind allowing the @Cache annotation on root entities only?
