Ok,
is Hibernate3 the new EJB3? What is the differnece between the two, and what benefits does Hibernate3 have over EJB3?

Hibernate is relational/object persistence layer/service.
EJB includes persistence and more others aspects(J2EE container, etc)

The EJB3 Entity embrass the programmatic model of Hibernate.
Hibernate3 implements the persistence part of the EJB3 specification. It has a lot more features than what's defined in the spec though.
