Hibernate version: 3.0

hibernate.properties specifies:
Code:
## Derby (Not supported!)

Is it working? Why is Derbij not supported?

Because last time I tried to test Derby with Hibernate, Derby was too buggy to be useable. This may now have changed, but I have not had time to re-test.

Are there other free databases recommended for use with Hibernate on Windows?

The hibernate tests on Derby yield 22 failures and 28 errors, success rate of 91.50 %. Is the dialect buggy or just Derby still qualifying to be in the incubator?

Because of the above information I started searching for another Java database. I tried Borland Jdatastore (http://www.borland.nl/jdatastore/index.html) which is working very well (it should be added to the list of Hibernate databases). But Borland asks 60 euro (!) for each license. Therefore I tried Derby (again) now my project is in the latest state. And everything is working very well. I am curious what part(s) of Hibernate do not work with Derby...
