Hibernate version:
3.0 Annotations

Has any thought been given into creating Annotation Processors
which would generate .hbm.xml files? It's just another way to
use the Annotations. I understand that you can bind at runtime
directly to the annotations, but the question is, are there scenarios
in which someone would want to bind to an xml file instead?

What you want will most likely be done in the Hibernate tools at some point (all the mecanism is here already).
