Hi ,

I am investigating methods in dialect and found the following methods in Dialect base class.

public boolean doesReadCommittedCauseWritersToBlockReaders()
public boolean doesRepeatableReadCauseReadersToBlockWriters()

By default these methods return false.
Retaining the default implementation dosent seem to be the behaviour for most of the databases.But I notice not all dialects have changed the default implementation.

I would like to know what is the puropse of providing these methods in Dialect or under what scenario this will be used by Hibernate.

Has anyone used these methods ?

I checked the sources of Hibernate-Core versions 3.6.2 and 4.1.1 and did not found any code
using/calling one of these methods, so it seems that these have just informative purpose so far.
