 Post subject: XML mapping override and @MappedSuperclass

When adding validation via XML mapping on a class that declares fields in a superclass (entity using @MappedSuperclass in my case) you must specify the superclass, not the subclass or else you get a error stating the field does not exist. Is this correct behavior? Doesn't seem correct.
