 Post subject: Page 45 - Why is nextMessage a many-to-one mapping?

The domain model for a Message includes a text field and a reference to a single Message called nextMessage. In the Hibernate XML mapping, why is the mapping specified as many-to-one?

Because that is what it is, a many-to-one association. The "next" Message could be the "next" Message for many other "first" Messages.
