On page 74 of Hibernate in Action, it said "Hibernate will compare the object by value - not by object identify - to determine if the property's persistent state needs to be updated." and it goes on and says "However, there is on every important exception. Collectinos are compared by identity!"

My question is what about byte array (for binary data)?

does Hibernate compare by value? or by object identity?

Thank you.
