Hibernate version:2.1

HIA says not to use both hibernate objects and parallel Data Transfer Objects.

What is the Best Practice for hibernate objects that need to have non-persisted extra data and/or methods other than getter/setter?

On one hand I want my hibernate objects to be clean: just persisted members and only getter/setter methods.

On the other hand I don't want to have to wrap my hibernate objects in DTO-like classes for when I pass them up to EJB session beans.

What the thinking about how to approach this design issue? I've read the book and didn't see this addressed.

Thank you.

Use whatever works for you, its more or less a trival thing and totally depends on your needs. The pro and cons of each are explained in the book.
