Hi I am new to Hibernate. I am using Eclipse 3.3.2. I tried installing Hibernate tools in Eclipse following the tutorial

http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/tools ... html#d0e23

I tried installing both using Eclipse's update features and downloading Hibernate tools. I followed the steps in the tutorial. In the former case errors saying "some plugins required for the installation are not installed in the machine" were displayed. In the latter case I copied all the files to the respective directories and started Eclipse with "eclipse -clean" command. But no changes occured. No plugins were installed. Ofcourse in both the cases installations were unsuccessful. So could you please help me install the Hibernate tools in Eclipse?

Thanks.
Sweta

not sure why you are reading old docs...

Goto http://www.hibernate.org/255.html and follow the links from there to docs about how to install it.

Hi, I'm new to eclipse and Hibernate. I'm trying to use the tools, but have been unable to install the plugin in a clean Eclipse 3.2.2. I tryed copying the files to /usr/lib/eclipse/ and also adding a "link" file (I readed about that in a blog). I started with the -clean parameter with no success.

The only link to documentation is the one posted, I can't see a link for "newer" documentation, maybe the page isn't updated?

Also, maybe I don't understand the whole thing (being newbie in these technologies), if I go to Help->About eclipse SDK and I hit the plugin-details button, the plugin is listed there, but I cant see anything related to Hibernate anywere. I do CTRL+N and theres no "Hibernate" wizard as stated in the doc.

Can somebody point me in the right direction? I'm working in Ubuntu Linux 8.04.

Thanks,

start eclipse with -clean -debug and tell us what the Error Log says.

Most likely you are missing WTP.
