HI,

I'm migrating from Hib2.1 to the new 3.0.5.
I'd like to test my HQL queries manually.
I understood the was a "ANTLR-based HQL/SQL query translator" included with the new set of tools.
But when looking at the 'Hibernate Ant Tool' page, there doesn't seems to be any query translation related task.

Is that just for the eclipse plugin or is there a non documented way to access that via Ant?

cheers

huh ?

the antlr hql/sql translator is part of hibernate 3 core. Why do you want "access" to that from ant ?

sorry max, I misunderstood what the ANTLR-based HQL/SQL query translator was.

I thought it would be a tool to translate SQL to HQL and vice-versa. Probably read to much doc on this day...

But I'm still looking for a way to migrate my 2.1 queries.
Any way to check them against the new ANTLR-based HQL/SQL query translator?

Or do I have to read and compare the HIb2.1 and Hib3.0 HQL chapter?

thanks.

Use named queries.

I'm not sure I get your point:
do you suggest to externalize the named queries, so that I can easily test & modify them at runtime, saving the recompile/redeploy hassle?
Or is there something else ?

You can get Hibernate to compile named queries by simply building a sessionfactory.
