I have an existing Oracle database. I want to export the structure and data of that database into a format that an O/R tool can interpret. I then want to use an O/R tool to recreate that initial database, creating table structures and inserting the exported data from the initial database into the new database.

Does Hibernate do this? I've been trying to get Torque to do it and it's a total nightmare.

Name and version of the database you are using:

Oracle 9x & 10G and MySQL (recent versions)

the actual import/export of *data* is something you would need to do by yourself.

the reverse engineering and creation of the database schema is doable with hibernate.
