I have a Microsoft Access that is 70 meg in size. I am looking to port the schema and data to an open source database. My current choices are MySql or Ingres. I wish to extract the data from the Microsoft Access database and place it in the two open source database and run some performance tests across the 3 databases using java and hibernate. I am after a tool that I can point to the current Microsoft Access database and have the appropriate Hibernate files created and then code generate from there. Can anyone help. I expect to use a version of Hibernate that a tool of this sort was written against.[/i]

You can try Middlegen as it was designed for Hibernate 2.x but I am not sure if the JDBC-ODBC bridge is good enough for the job. I guess you can try and findout. You might be better off exporting to MSSQL server and go from there. jTDS works well.

I visited http://sourceforge.net/projects/middlegen and downloaded the binaries and source and it appears to be the solution I am looking for.

thanx
