So I managed to get read of that error by adding a default schema to my hibernate xml cfg

however, It still gives me the same error but with a domain specific error

!MESSAGE org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Error while reading column meta data for SCHEMA_NAME.TABLE_NAME

why would it complain about a specific table?

In my case I'm using a connection username, password that isn't the schema owner and typically sees the objects it needs via public synonyms.
