The JavaFX community is currently discussing possible approaches for a validation framework.

http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/ ... 02311.html

What do you think? Is JavaFX out-of-scope of the Bean Validation framework and is JavaFX better off with a custom validation framework? Or should JavaFX be supported by JSR-303/ JSR-349?

Personally, I would appreciate if the Java community could come up with a validation framework which can be used consistently on various layers.

Hi,

thanks for pointing us to this discussion. I've added some thoughts to the thread.

Generally BV is agnostic about the layers or tiers where it's used; it can be used in the persistence layer, service layer, on the client etc. So I think it's not so much about BV supporting JavaFX (or any other technology application layer with the need for validation) but more the other way around: JavaFX could leverage BV for its validation requirements. In my response to the thread I've also linked a prototype project of mine showing how to use BV within a JavaFX application.

I actually think both technologies are a really good match and I would be very happy to see these things working together. Please don't hesitate to contact the BV EG to discuss any points around this (best is to send a mail to the mailing list).
