We need to get the total row count for an arbitrary HQL query that will be paged. The query may contain a DISTINCT clause.

In SQL, the result set for any query, even one containing DISTINCT, can be counted without returning the entire result set via

Code:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM (original query here) V

where V is the alias for the inline view. Is there anything like this for HQL?
