We have a existing asp.net application that we're converting to a WPF-based rich client. In doing so, we'll loose the aspect having the domain object model in the middle tier (IIS server) and it now resides in the client application. I really don't want the client application's connecting directly to the db and was wondering if anyone has implemented a model where the ADO.NET driver was a proxy to a data server where the data server actually managed the connections to the database. Kind-of a remote ADO.NET model where the protocol between the client and the data server was pluggable so that it could operate over HTTP if need be.
DevForce has such a model (i.e. it's object server) but that product is not compatible with NHib
Any suggestions or references to products that can do this would be most appreciated.
thanks,
-john
