NHibernate 2.0.0.Alpha1 has been released.
Download | Changelog

NHibernate 2.0 is equivalent to Hibernate 3.2 in terms of features (with a few exceptions). A few notable features are:
  • Improved IInterceptor
  • Events and listeners
  • MultiCriteria
  • <join> element mapping
  • Stateless session

Another notable is the creation of the NHibernate Contrib project. A few of the components previously found in the NHibernate Core project is now part of the NHibernate Contrib project. You can find it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/nhcontrib

Can you post the Hibernate 3.2 features that aren't included? The AST-based HQL parser (NH-514) is one missing (and sorely needed) feature that comes to mind ...

Will this new version supports Linq queries ? I'm eager to use NHibernate with the power of Linq and to compare it with Linq to Entities...

NHibernate.Linq will likely be a separate project; perhaps in the NHibernate Contrib project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/nhcontrib.

I don't really have a hand in NHibernate.Linq. As of right now, it is not part of the NHibernate core. The release schedule will be up to the developers of NH.Linq -- Ayende and others.

Will NHibernate 2.0 simplify the use of custom collection ? It's not trivial to load collections such as BindingList<T> or ObservableCollection<T> with the current version...

I tried the new event / listener system and if anyone is interested I wrote a short piece on how you can use them: http://www.codinginstinct.com/2008/04/n ... eners.html

Is there any reference documentation on what's new yet? There's obviously a lot of stuff there, but since I'm only familiar with nhibernate rather than hibernate itself, a lot of the stuff in the change list goes over my head.

Please use the Hibernate documentation for now. It is available here:

Hi,

What has happened to NHibernate.Caches.MemCache?

Is it now part of the contrib?

How can I download the contrib.

Cheers

Paul

Paul, those are moved.

The project site is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/nhcontrib/

SVN: https://nhcontrib.svn.sourceforge.net/s ... trib/trunk

MemCache is here:

https://nhcontrib.svn.sourceforge.net/s ... .MemCache/

If the solution doesn't build, there's a patch you will need to apply that Wout has uploaded on the dev group: http://groups.google.com/group/nhcdevs

I have just started using Nhibernate for my current project . I had down loaded 1.2 GA version but I need the functionality of "events" since I am not able to pass interceptor from hibernate.cfg.xml . Can anyone help me know if it would be a good idea to use Nhibernate 2.0 alpha for production or should i wait
Also if anyone has a clue of how to pass interceptor from hibernate.cfg.xml
