Is there a way to see when the DB was actually hit by other applications?
I have a sample application built using nhibernate and i'm using
second level cache. I want to check out if the cache really works, so i
need a tool that tells me if the DB was hit, when etc

the sql output doesn't help, since i'm using caching and i think that
nhibernate always shows the sql query output (at least it should be like that)

Use SQL Server's Profiler app.
