I am thinking this has already been considered by people that are closer to NHibernate development but I was just curious to know what people thought of the viability of more easily porting hibernate 3.2 (and beyond) to .NET by running the hibernate java code thru something like the Microsoft Java Languange Conversion Assistant (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/Aa718346.aspx).

Yes, this has been considered and it wouldn't work. The code JLCA generates doesn't compile, and there doesn't seem to be any way to customize it (aside from upgrading to the commercial edition, AFAIR).

hbm2net was translated from Java using JLCA.
