Hi folks

Is there a way of avoiding the use of Named Pipes?

I have tried adding "Network Library=DBMSSOCN" into the connection string but have had no joy.

Regards
Michael.

Hello,

I'm connecting to a SqlServer database through tcp/ip and have had no problems.
I'm using a SqlConnectionStringBuilder to build my connection string:

Code:
SqlConnectionStringBuilder connbuilder = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder();
...
connbuilder.NetworkLibrary = "dbmssocn";

Aside from that, I'm also setting the DataSource and explicitely pass the portnumber through.

Hope this helps.

Also, note that SQLServer Express does not enable TCP/IP Connections by default. You must enable them in : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager.
