What's the current outlook for the port from NHibernate 3.1? Is the effort still underway? Is there an outlook on when it might be available? Any word on the scope of the effort? Are there any plans to integrate with LINQ?

I'm currently working on a Java to C# translator. This is the reason why the development of 1.2.x and 1.0.x has stalled. I'm thinking about creating a project for the translator in the near future to make my progress visible.

So, my priority is translating parts of Hibernate satisfactorily. Until it's done, talking about adding LINQ and other features is premature.

As for the dates, unfortunately I can't give any since it's an unfamiliar territory for me so I don't know what problems lie ahead.

sergey, I'm impressed! My understanding is that the problem of translating Java to C# is more complex than Hibernate itself... Anyway you are in a good position since you have a lot of experience on translating manually from Java to C#. Can you elaborate a little bit on the architecture? I presume you want start from an AST generated by a parser. The really complex part in my opinion is to translate idioms: in C# there aren't Java style iterators so you can't simply translate the code, so here you need a kind of pattern matching, I suppose. Anyway, a quality translator could be a huge hit, not only for hibernate. Good luck!
