Auf einer Systeminfoseite möchte ich die Hibernate-Version anzeigen. Gibt es dafür eine Methode?

Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass es eine solche Methode nicht gibt.
Ich würde deshalb vorschlagen, eine Konfigurationsdatei (Properties, XML bzw. je nach Geschmack) anzulegen, in der die Hibernate-Version steht. Dort könntest du gleichzeitig die Versionen für alle anderen verwendeten Softwarebausteine hinterlegen.

Das sollte nicht so tragisch sein, da du die Version des API ja eher selten austauschen wirst. :)

Stimmt, da wird sie doch mitgepflegt.
Und falls du Hibernate 3.x verwendest findest du sie entsprechend unter org.hibernate.cfg.Enviroment.VERSION.
