I have a class which executes a named-query. When executed as a unit test the query flushes the entity manager before execution however when deployed to weblogic server the query is not flushed prior to execution. My unit test setup is using JTA transactions and hypersonic db. My production setup is weblogic and oracle. Could anyone explain why the behaviour is not consistent between the two setups?

As a second point the named-query is actually attempting to retrieve data that may have been inserted within the same transaction - however because the data has not been flushed hibernate cannot find any data. I thought hibernate would still be able to retrieve the data as it should be cached within the entity manager at this point?

Thanks
