I think I understand the concept but I am having a problem.

I cannot specify the ID if I want to save something new because it is being generated by the system. If I want to update something that already exists, then I have to specify the ID or it will create a new row.
I think the two types of commands ( save and update ) are mutually exclusive.

What am I not seeing correctly?

Should I be using: <generator class="assigned"/>
