I have a tree structure where I use a parent id . This is working very nicely. My object contains a list of children which are of the same object type. Now I wish to introduce more functionality where the tree will be created based on an external dependency. Lets say my object is a Lesson. Lessons can contain Lessons etc. I want to build a tree JUST containing Lessons that are flagged for user but this flag exists in a LU_USER__TO_LESSON table. So the tree is built with the same structure as all lessons but only some are included.

Right now with my mapping file I just need to do a get on the root node and the tree is populated automatically. How can I make the condition continue into sub queries.
