Hi,

In hibernate mapping, i have used java type i.e. java.lang.String instead of hibernate type string and it is working fine.

Code:
<property name="field" type="java.lang.String" column="field"/>
or
<property name="field" type="string" column="field"/>

My question is whether hibernate specifications allows both types to be used or it just ignores the java type and uses reflection as if no type were specified. Which approach should be preferred and why?
