read dialect of SessionFactory?

Hello,

to react on the content of a SQLGrammerException with a db-vendor specific ErrorCode, I need to know the currently used dialect of a SessionFactory. Can I somehow get the configured dialect from a SessionFactory-instance?

Try looping through the properties of the Configuration or AnnotationConfiguration object. It should be in there:
