Hello,

is there any experience around or measurements of the performance of criteria expressions compared to "hand-coded". Depends on what you mean with "hand-coded" ... Ya, ya, ... I often hear in projects the argument that hibernate criteria expressions are slow and it is therefore better to code the query with plain JDBC. I have too little experience with criteria queries that I would risk to say that this were not true. Maybe someone knows some link to some performance measurement (I didn't find anything) or would share her/his experience.

Regards, Oliver

Well, remember that all the criteria queries just get turned into JDBC calls under the covers. A hand rolled SQL statement can always be made to do some very efficient things, but ease of development should always be an important point as well.
