I'm having trouble while building a session factory from a Configuration object. I set the connection properties hibernate.connection.url, hibernate.connection.username, hibernate.connection.password already in my application and add them to the Configuration object. Im using the default built-in connection manager.
Everything works great if I enter a correct url of a database server. The problem is that when I enter a random url address where there is no database server and call configuration.buildSessionFactory() it doesn't throw any exceptions (with a connection error message) but freezes, like it would try to connect again and again.
After a minute or two I finally get a JDBCConnectionException, heres the full stack trace:

I would like to get that connection exception much earlier, so I wouldn't have to wait almost 2 minutes to ensure that there is no mysql db running in that location.
Is there any timeout property I could set to get this exception earlier or maybe there are other solutions?
