Is there a way to notify all open sessions that an object in its cache is outdated?

For example, session 1 changes a Cat object, and session 2 has the previous version of Cat cached. Is there a way to let session 2 know that the Cat object needs to be reloaded?

It would be great to have some sort of notification rather than relying on pre-emptive refresh(Cat) calls.
