is Hibernate a object-relational mapping framework(in my mind, the framewowk is a library of abstract classes that we can create the instances of these classes to collaborate with other system for building a complete system ,is this right ?? ).

how middlegen and vp-uml work with hibernate ?(in my knowledge these two are the tools the java programmer to do the mapping, does them have any relationship with hibernate) ??
