hello,

i am new to hibernate and need help for a (at least i hope) quite simple problem. at the moment i am developing a hibernate based application that integrates itself into a running database environment. it uses some of the already existing tables and needs to add a few new ones.

so i need my application to generate a "create tables script" which the database admin needs to run first (as the app does not have create table rights) and fits for the used db.

i have set up a working hibernate app, i can store and load my objects, but i cannot figure out how to get the create table statemenst from the hibernate api.

hope i could make myself clear,
thanks for your help,
kaos.

Hi kaos

You'll want to look at SchemaExport and SchemaUpdate, a couple of tools shipped with hibernate. They can be run from the command line, programatically or from Ant. There's an article about running from Ant on the hibernate community area: http://www.hibernate.org/291.html.
