 Post subject: Setting parameters in formula

I have a class which uses a formula to retrieve the count of specific items for a given user. Counting this items should occur on user_id and this property should be set dynamically into the formula I use.

Is it possible to set parameters in a formula? Or should I get to this another way? (By using subqueries for example)
