I'd like to get a reference to the second level cache vendor implementation to perform administrative functions...beyond the evict ability of the Hibernate API.

I can't seem to find an API that supports this function. Is there a way to obtain it? Is there a reason not to expose it?...such as potential data integrity/transaction problems?
