You have where USER_ID=? but to what table does USER_ID belong to? There are multiple tables with the same column

Add a table in front and it should solve that problem.

Seems like bug http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-1194 returned again! I've got the same problem. I am using hibernate 3.2.2. I'm going to try to use another version of hibernate.
