Hello everyone

I am developing a standalone application in java for point of sale. I am new to standalone world.
Want to get some guide lines for my doubts:
have googled and got hibernate & spring framework is good enough for standalone application.
for GUI of application have decided to use Swing but should i do event handling thru swing or some other way bcoz the systme should be flexible enough in future to convert it in web based. so if event handling will done by swing then in future i have to change all the business logic and presentation everything.
Can i use triggers or procedures or any other framework which take care of all these things and system also can be much flexible.

Thanks!
