This is quite a problem. While I use HQL for business querying there is still the need for dynamic SQL queries, especially for reports.

The fact that I cant automatically determine the fields from a query

select field1, somthing as field2, ...
from tables...

is surprising, as surely it is just iterating through the JDBC meta data.

Any ideas on how to do this?
