I am completley new to Hibernate so forgive my ignorance.
I have a very simple question:What is the best database to use with Hibernate?
I want to use something that is not heavy on resources like Oracle Lite but when I did a search on the forum for it most of the opinions on it were very negative.
Thanks for any replies.

Very light for learning Hibernate and just playing around - HSQL.
Used extensively around the net as well as being light - MySQL.
Solid great support and extra services and easy on resources - PostgreSQL.

Then the commercial players come into it.

hi david

it really depends on the type of application u want to develop

so if u need light database then Firebird is very efficient and it is well supported by hibernate also

so u can try that, i think much better than mysql or hsql
