I need to manipulate the datasource in my Fitnesse tests after bootstrapping has been done. However, this is not possible after a connection have been created (using the dbcp pool).

Hibernate (3.1.3) does just that in Configuration. It seems to connect just to look at the database metadata.

Is there a way to prevent this connection to the database? Lazy initialization or something?
